I have created these paintings using my Apple iPad. I begin with a blank screen and create the image using my finger as a drawing tool. The art programme, “Art Rage”, provides me with various pencils, chalks and paints and I create my own colours, shapes and tones, just as I would do using acrylic or watercolour paints.
I love to use my iPad in the place of a sketch book, particularly when I am painting outdoors or travelling on a long journey. I have my whole art studio in a very portable and accessible tablet and I can attempt to quickly capture the fleeting images that visually inspire me. The completed image can then printed onto archival paper or stretched canvas.
I have been inspired by the iPad art of David Hockney, the British artist who exhibited prints of his iPad paintings at his exhibition, “The Bigger Picture” at the Royal Academy in London in 2012.
